On a perch in the Portofino hills overlooking a glittering gulf is the storied Splendido, a Belmond Hotel, and the location of Dior’s first permanent spa in Italy. Set to open this coming June 7th, this luxurious retreat is designed as a sophisticated Mediterranean residence dedicated to well-being.
The charming former 16th-century monastery has welcomed luminaries for decades, including icons like Grace Kelly, Winston Churchill, and Maria Callas, and continues to host everyone from royalty to Hollywood celebrities. The hotel is in the process of renovations, and the opening of the Dior Spa will coincide with its reopening this summer.
The spa is a breathtaking escape that invites guests to retreat into nature indoors and outdoors with a soothing palette of sandstone and pale hues. The reception salon offers ready-to-wear, accessories, makeup and perfume from the Escale à Portofino from the Les Escales collection. Here, you’ll find two individual treatment rooms, one of which can be transformed into a beauty boudoir. Upstairs is a third individual treatment cabin, a gorgeous double suite that opens onto an idyllic, panoramic sea view.
Post-treatment, guests can head up to the rooftop terrace, purposefully designed for total relaxation with rattan and wattle fencing and sheer cotton drapes that act like a shady cocoon. When guests want to cool down, there’s a shower concealed behind fruit trees and Mediterranean flowering plants.
Expect to find a plethora of bespoke experiences, including Dior’s iconic face and body treatments, cutting-edge technologies, and Dior’s new signature Splendidior treatment. This treatment addresses both the face and body and is inspired by the hotel’s emblematic location, surrounded by the abundant natural beauty of the Ligurian bay. For ultimate indulgence, you can also choose from four wellness getaways, which all last a minimum of four hours and include one to experience with a partner.
Relaxation at Dior Spa Splendido truly embodies la dolce vita.
