Dior is redefining the leather fragrance category once again with Cuir Saddle, their newest addition to La Collection Privée Christian Dior. Inspired by the Dior Saddle bag, perfumer Francis Kurkdjian has turned one of fashion’s most iconic materials into something unexpectedly soft, luminous, and modern.

Traditionally, leather scents lean smoky, musky, and unapologetically heavy but Dior’s new fine fragrance flips that script. Instead of animalic intensity, Kurkdjian’s creation is a luminous, floral-leaning leather that is meant to feel supple, velvety, and surprisingly intimate, more a second skin than a statement scent.

The fragrance nods directly to the audacious energy of the Saddle bag itself. Just as John Galliano’s early-2000s design disrupted the classic handbag silhouette, Cuir Saddle reinterprets leather through a modern lens. Kurkdjian describes it as a trompe-l’œil leather: familiar at first inhale, then unexpectedly light and sensual. It’s confident without being loud, refined without feeling traditional, and undeniably Dior in its balance of heritage and reinvention.

Cuir Saddle is available now in 50ml and 200ml sizes along with a limited-edition pale taupe leather travel case inspired by Dior Couture.
