The holiday season is going to here before you know it and it’s time to start building your recipe repertoire before the parties begin. Continuing on from the Espresso Martini recipe we shared a couple weeks back, we’re mixing with the new, rather festive, limited edition Absolut Electrik vodka this week. In true Absolut fashion, they’ve followed up their celebrated tradition once again, introducing a limited edition cutting-edge design. Released last month, just in time for the holiday season, the limited edition bottles are available now in electrik blue and silver for a limited time.
We wanted to share a tweaked version of the Volstead, which is a sparkling cocktail that’s festive colour makes it the perfect edition to any celebration. It combines muddled berries of any kind and Absolut Electrik as the base with a luxurious bubbly finish to kick things up a notch. We used a combination of sweet raspberries and tart cranberries this time for a ruby red holiday presentation. You could easily use blackberries, blueberries, or even currants for this drink as well, just be sure to double strain your mixture to illuminate any seeds.
While normally served in a champagne flute, we like to serve ours in a gold-rimmed coupe with a matching gold cocktail pick loaded up with cranberries. You can also serve this cocktail at larger holiday gatherings, by mixing up a batch of the muddled mixture to serve in a pitcher alongside champagne to top and pre-assembled garnish. Leave the bottle of Absolut Electrik out too, just in case anyone wants an extra kick!
Absolut Electrik is available at the LCBO for $26.95.
Happy mixing this holiday!
INGREDIENTS
¾ oz Absolut Electrik
¾ oz Elderflower Liqueur
¼ oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice

Champagne or Sparkling Wine
Cranberry Garnish
METHOD
Muddle berries and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add Absolut Electrik, elderflower liqueur and lemon juice, and fill cocktail shaker with ice.
