For me, there are few times of year more exciting, seasonally speaking, than strawberry season. Every year I recall fond memories of travelling out of the city to pick berries in the farm fields with my family, before heading home to make to make pies and preserves to enjoy at the peak of the season.
To celebrate our love of strawberry season I thought it would be apt to share one of my favourite recipes to enjoy with this ruby red fruit – The Strawberry Blow Fizz (also more commonly known as the Peach Blow Fizz). This gin based cocktail from The Savoy Cocktail Book is all-at-once tart, refreshing, creamy, and fizzy, qualities you don’t often find in your average cocktail, let alone one with a lovely vibrant shade such as this one.

Strawberry Blow Fizz
2 oz Gin
Juice of half a lemon
Juice of Half a Lime
4 Ripe Strawberries
½ tsp. Powdered Sugar
1 tbsp. 10% Cream
Muddle strawberries with powdered sugar in the base of a cocktail shaker. Add gin, lemon and lime juice, and cream. Fill shaker with large chunks of ice and shake until it becomes uncomfortable to hold. Double strain into a coupe and top with Ginger Beer. Garnish with wild strawberry sprigs.
