John Galliano, for Maison Margiela and Christian Louboutin, who have known each other since the beginning of their careers, collaborated on a striking shoe collection that merges the unique avant-garde aesthetics and craftsmanship of both houses. It comes just a short time after the pair collaborated on the Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal Collection, sending models down the runway in red-soled Tabis.

The longing is finally over as Christian Louboutin and Maison Margiela have officially set to release a capsule collection on March 12 at select boutiques around the globe and on the brand’s digital platforms. The collection will contain two lines: Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin, which offers a sensual interpretation of the iconic Tabi, while Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela subverts the brand’s seductive silhouettes and deconstructs the shoe to its skeletal framework.

Stand-out pieces from the Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin collection include the Bridiela Una Strass, a mesh bridal shoe in black and silver, adorned with handcrafted crystal embellishments and 100mm heel, while the Marlougiela, a sleek and elongated ballerina available in black or deep red patent leather, or a black, blush and silver mesh with embellishments.

The Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela styles all focus on Margiela’s unique décoratiqué technique, which strips a garment or accessory to its core structure. The Bilougiela 25 is a pointed, ankle-strap sandal and is based on the Louboutin Kate Max. Using the decortiqué technique, the black patent leather on the upper surface reveals the shoe’s innards, and is also echoed in the deconstructed heel. Another bold style is the Martoubi 25, a new pointed, elongated pump set on a 100mm heel and crafted in white leather. To finish the dazzling shoe, the heel cap is daubed in a red brushstroke.
