Continuing the brand’s “we make our own rules” trend, Celine, care of Creative Director Hedi Slimane, presents their Summer 2025 Men’s runway show. This presentation was released just as New York Fashion Week kicked off, and it is not a show that people can attend. This is a well-thought-out film that exists in its place and time. Directed and shot by Slimane, the film and collection appears to be inspired by 1920s English countryside life, with many waistcoats, rowing jackets, boater hats, and more. Of course, Slimane manages to slide in some of his signature iconic leather moto jackets and rock glam attitude. The runway shows film dramatically sets the scene with quick cuts of young men lounging around the 18th-century country house Holkham Hall in Norfolk. Then a trumpet sounds, a cane thumps, and the models walk along the awe-inspiring manor gardens. The runway footage is intermixed with shots of more models riding on horseback, laying in tall grass, and riding Slimane-designed leather bicycles.
It’s elegant and classic. While the cuts are a bit quick, we chalk this up to people’s short attention spans thanks to TikTok. The film does a great job showing the beautiful collection from all angles, with movement and feeling. Mix in a little sexual tension, and it’s a moment for sure!
