Today’s the day, Toronto’s own Broken Social Scene has finally announced their new album Hug of Thunder after a long seven year break. To celebrate the occasion Kevin Drew stopped by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music to chat about how the album came together, working with Feist on the title track, his anxieties and much more. Listen to a snippet of the interview below now.

The title track “Hug Of Thunder” was also premiered on the Zane’s show earlier today and features vocals from Feist and later they shared the mastered version of “Halfway Home” which was premiered on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in March.

Hug of Thunder features all fifteen members of the band and is set to drop July 7th via their album Arts & Crafts and features production from Joe Chiccarelli with mixing from Shawn Everett. You can pre-order a limited edition Coke Bottle clear vinyl, as well as a 140g double LP, both of which feature a vinyl only bonus track “Old Dead Young.”
