We’ve been fans of dark-pop drone-punk act Bonnie Trash for a while now to say the least. In 2017 we premiered their video for the cannibalistic drag thriller “Meat and Great” and in 2019 we dropped their haunting video for “Shades Of You”. Following Bonnie Trash’s EP Ezzelini’s Dead, the Canadian-Italian twin sisters Emmalia and Sarafina Bortolon-Vettor have just announced the upcoming release of their official debut album, due out later this year, along with their recent signing to Hand Drawn Dracula.

The first single is “Teeth,” a biting track the showcases the twins’ talents after writing music together since they were 11 years-old. Emmalia shreds on her guitar and Sarafina’s vocals echo as she sings lyrics asking “When’s the last time you smiled?” and “Have you cried lately?” Self-directed by Sarafina, the video features the rad twins performing and vibing in an empty cinema. The video was edited by Sara May (who you may know from Falcon Jane) and shot by Dana Bellamy. As the band express in a press release…

We created a short film to help narrate stories our Nonna Maria told us about being haunted and followed by a curse in her hometown of San Zenone degli Ezzelini in Treviso, Italy. That short eventually became the concept of our album, which is woven into our first music video, “Teeth.” Shot at the Apollo Cinema in Kitchener, Ontario, “Teeth” bridges generations of being haunted – we see ourselves watching our work without understanding that we too have conjured the curse. A malocchio follows.
