Beirut is back with No No No, the follow up to 2011’s The Rip Tide. Zach Condon went through some hard personal times in the last couple of years, mentally and physically breaking down in Australia in 2013 and getting divorced.
I had completely broken down and my body was making me pay for it. For the first time in my life, I was facing extreme self doubt. I had hit rock bottom.
The album’s title track in some ways feels like a rebirth. Condon is happy and in a new relationship. No No No was recorded in Brooklyn last year with bassist Paul Collins, and drummer Nick Petree. Listen to the title track above.
Having a positive presence like her both provides a healthy guiding force and shines a light on all the negative things in your life. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am now without her.
