After seeing Fred again.. Bring USB002 to Toronto; getting any glimpse into the world behind the show feels like a welcome extension of the experience. Gawx’s Behind The Sound offers exactly that, following the week leading up to Fred again..’s USB002 show in Mexico City with Latin Mafia and focusing on everything that happens before the first note.

The short film offers an intimate look at the people, planning and creative process behind one of the tour’s biggest stops. Written, filmed and edited by Gawx, with production by LOOSE and additional photography by Theo and Charlie, the documentary moves through studio sessions, production meetings, setup and filming before arriving at show day.

Paired with a soundtrack featuring Fred again.., Brian Eno, Floating Points, Latin Mafia, Moses Sumney and selections from classical composers, the film lets each moment breathe without getting in the way. Rather than turning the camera toward the spectacle, Behind The Sound keeps its attention on the collaboration that makes it possible.

In the closing credits, Gawx thanks Fred, Lucy and the entire team for welcoming him into the USB002 world, and that sense of trust runs through the film from beginning to end. It is a thoughtful behind-the-scenes look at the work audiences rarely get to see.
