Tucked quietly along Chelsea’s Sloane Street, Beaverbrook Town House feels easy to miss in the best possible way. From the outside it reads more like an elegant private residence than a hotel, the kind of place you imagine belongs to someone with impeccable taste and a well-stocked bar. Inside, the illusion becomes a maximalist experience.
Spread across two Georgian townhouses, the property leans fully into the boutique hotel concept in a more personal way. With only a handful of suites, it trades scale for intimacy, creating an atmosphere that feels calm, considered, and deeply lived-in. It’s less about spectacle and more about detail. Every corner offers curiosity, from layered textiles to bookshelves and walls filled with art and objects that offer a sense homeyness you’d find in a well curated home.
There’s a subtle thread of history running through it all in the spirit of its namesake Lord Beaverbrook, not in an overt way, but in the sense of character and personality that defines the space. It feels social, a little indulgent, and entirely self-assured.
Our stay in the Savoy Room set the tone immediately upon check in. Overlooking the private Cadogan Gardens, the view alone felt rather dreamy. Guests can pick up a key during their stay and stroll through the lushly appointed gardens dotted with magnolia and cherry blossom trees, gardenias, butterfly bush, and carpets of scilla. Whether you’re up for a game of tennis or a leisurely walk, access is a unique perk that adds to quietly exclusive vibe of Beaverbrook.
The Savoy room, outfitted with all the English comforts in mind, was designed to honour a little piece of London’s musical theatre history. Named after the West End theatre Gilbert & Sullivan performed their comedic operettas, the space featured a four-poster bed with lush curtains and a hidden television at its foot, a gleaming tiled bathroom with a separate soaker tub and shower, thoughtfully stocked with amenities.
At the spacious entry, a closet sits next to a mini bar area where everything is complimentary including, tea, coffee, local snacks and water, to be enjoyed in the cozy living room space complete with a vintage secretary desk and plenty of seats to curl up with a good book or enjoy the fabulous in-room breakfast.
Downstairs, The Fuji Grill offers a shift in pace. The Japanese menu places emphasis on smaller raw and charcoal grilled plates designed for sharing served along a robust wine and stunning cocktails flowing from Sir Frank’s Bar. There’s also a unique Japanese afternoon tea served in the Fuji Grill or in the lounge that blends best sweet and savoury bites like their signature temeki alongside fine loose-leaf Japanese teas.
What makes Beaverbrook Town House memorable is how everything comes together to make you feel right at home and encourages you to linger, take your time, and enjoy the quiet luxuries and of English hospitality. The colourful space, the thoughtful touches and the entire team make the experience a memorable one, all while offering quiet respite from stresses of city life.
