We certainly wouldn’t shy away from a little glow, especially once that warm weather and sunshine comes around! Highlighting the face can be beautiful, if you know what you’re doing. The idea is to stray away from looking like a disco ball, and create a natural glow across the high points of the face.

We’ve put together five tips to help you achieve the perfect highlight and get glowing this spring.

1.Ensure you are well aware of your skin type before purchasing a highlight product. If your skin tends to be more oily, you should go with a powder highlight. (BECCA – Shimmering Skin Perfector is a delicious powder highlight!) If you tend to have dry skin, you might want to use a liquid or a cream highlight. (REVLON Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator are perfect for dry skin and are available in four shades!)
2.We recommend using a stippling brush, or your fingers when applying a liquid or cream highlight. For powder always use an angled blush brush and/or a smaller domed brush.
3. When applying your highlight you will want to touch on the high points of the face and absolutely no where else! The tops of the cheekbones, top of the nose, cupid’s bow, chin and if you want, your temples are the areas that should be highlighted. All five areas are the first to get touched by the sun.
4. A little bit goes a long way. No one wants to see their reflection in your cheekbone. Subtleness is key!
5. Once you have finished your makeup and adding your highlight, you can set your makeup, using the setting spray of your choice. (NYX – Dewy Finish Setting Spray is our personal favourite.) This will keep your highlight glowing all day!
