Baltimore dream pop band Beach House have shared their self-directed video for “Chariot,” the lead single off B-Sides and Rarities.
Broaching the tendency for news outlets to sensationalize narratives, the visual features a variety of shots of former President John F. Kennedy, mixed with clips of his ex-wife Jackie Kennedy Onassis and rumored lover Marilyn Monroe.
The duo’s forthcoming work, B-Sides and Rarities, is a compilation of 14 tracks spanning their entire career so far. The band released this statement in an accompanying press release:
Our goal has never been to make music that is explicitly commercial. Over the years, as we have worked on our 6 LPs, it wasn’t the ‘best’ or most catchy songs that made the records, just the ones that fit together to make a cohesive work. Accordingly, our B-sides are not songs that we didn’t like as much, just ones that didn’t have a place on the records we were making.
Through Sub Pop Records, B-Sides and Rarities will drop on June 30. Pre-order the project here.
