British heritage brand Barbour just named Outlander lead Sam Heughan as their first-ever Global Brand Ambassador. The Scottish actor represents both the rugged outdoors and refined classic balance the brand tries to go for. While they’ve come to epitomize British style, the brand’s founder John Barbour actually lived not far from where Heughan grew up.
We’re incredibly excited to announce @SamHeughan as our first Global Brand Ambassador! https://t.co/8ih1JmrWw9 pic.twitter.com/Qccr6uZz8X

Not only will he be the face of Barbour for campaigns and appearances, Heughan will also be designing his very own capsule collection of tartans. Aside from their signature quilted jacket, Barbour is known for their exclusive tartans, based on the Ayrshire District Tartan that the Barbour family originated in the 13th century. Now that we’re done with that little history lesson, check out what Heughan had to say about working with Barbour below.
Being Scottish, I grew up with the brand and have always been a big fan – being born in the same rural area as John Barbour, in the south of Scotland. I have a great passion for the company and their employees that feels more like I’ve been welcomed into their extended family.
