Nestled into the cliffs of Bermuda’s South Shore, AZURA is a secluded boutique hotel that’s both intimate and luxurious. Located just a 10-minute drive from the island’s capital, Hamilton, its mid-point position in the Warwick parish, makes it easy to explore in either direction, whether you’re looking to discover the country’s history in St. George’s or sink your toes into the pink sand at Horseshoe Bay.

For the most breathtaking morning views, the ocean view suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing you to take in the glistening Atlantic upon waking. The loft style rooms perch you up high enough that it feels like you’re floating above the water. Ideal for long stays, the suites come equipped with full kitchens and everything you need to cook your own meals. The suites also feature a washer and dryer, spacious living room, and private terrace where you can sip your morning coffee or night cap.

Depending on your mood, there are four pools to choose from, including the stunning Ocean Infinity Pool, which Vogue named one of the best pools in the world for scenic swims. Continually filled with salt water straight from the Atlantic, you can take in the soothing sounds of the ocean waves crashing against the shore. With an adjacent bar steps away, plan to relax with cocktail in hand. If you’re feeling adventurous, the rocky shoreline is steps away. As you continue down the beach, you’ll find picturesque cliffs and a wide sandy shore to either wade in or take a dip. But heads up, in the spring and early summer, Portuguese man ‘o war tends to wash up on the south shore, so keep your eyes peeled before jumping in and getting a nasty sting.

Another favourite spot for mid-day relaxing is the heated Terrace Pool, found at the heart of the resort. There are plenty of loungers and umbrellas, where you can set up with a book and order a bite off the pool menu.

For dining, SURF is the hotel’s primary restaurant, designed as homage to the Surf Side Club that resided in its place for many years. The intimate dining space features an island-style Mediterranean menu, with plenty of mouthwatering seafood to choose from including local favourites like the iconic Bermudian fish sandwich, and classics like fried calamari and shrimp tacos. Be sure to leave room for dessert, as they don’t disappoint. The homemade gelato is incredibly decadent, as is the chocolate ganache cake.

What makes AZURE stand out is its exclusive, refined feel. With a total of 60 rooms and suites spread out across the clifftop property, it never feels too busy or crowded. It’s more like coming home versus coming back to a hotel at the end of the day. Plus, it’s far enough away from the action of the ports that you can truly relax, wherever you decide to make your respite.
