We loved Angel Olsen’s incredible 2014 record Burn Your Fire for No Witness and ever since the angelic Olsen released her video for “Shut Up Kiss Me” our love have been reignited and then some. We simply can’t wait for her upcoming third album MY WOMAN and now we get another taste of said record with her new video for “Sister”. Shot this past summer in Los Angeles and at Joshua Tree National Park, the video is self-directed by Olsen alongside co-director Conor Hagen who elaborates in a press release…

“I wanted to keep from cutting these shots up too much. I wanted to slow frames down just enough for the cinematography to make its own statement. My aim was to gather a mixture of very different themed material, and somehow take a look at the synchronicity that material naturally brought forward. ‘Sister’ addresses conflict within and then moves beyond it. The song is lyrically contradictory, so we wanted to show those opposing dualities. The contrast between a wide shot and a close-up, the duality between the city and that natural world, joy and melancholy.”

MY WOMAN comes out September 2nd on Jagjaguwar. Pre-order a limited edition of the vinyl here or via iTunes here. You can also catch Angel Olsen live at the dates listed below.
