The biggest night in prime time, a.k.a., the Emmys, has again honoured its outstanding performances, with a roster of dramas, including our beloved Succession, winning more acclaim in 2022.
The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards saw Ted Lasso, which features Jason Sudeikis as the buoyant soccer coach, once again took home the best comedy trophy, for the second year in a row.
Succession snagged the win in the outstanding drama series category, beating out contenders like Better Call Saul, Yellowjackets, and Ozark.
Other notable mentions include The White Lotus and Squid Game, which both won for their creative, perhaps in some cases, raw and quirky content. Squid Game‘s Lee Jung-jae took home the win for best actor in a drama series. White Lotus won five awards at this year’s awards ceremony.
The event looked somewhat like a non-Covid-like event, meaning it was held indoors in front of a packed, maskless, audience at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
A fun moment of the night involved the cast of Only Murders in the Basement, which stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short. A dynamic trio, indeed.
Gomez joked saying, “You know what I love about working with these guys? No paparazzi, ever.” Refreshing.
Big ups to Jennifer Coolidge, who won for outstanding supporting actress as part of the White Lotus cast. For those who have not had a chance to catch this show, do it now — you will not be let down. The show won for best outstanding limited or anthology series. Keep watch for October when the second season is released.
