Alicia Keys has released her new track “Blended Family” to coincide with the announcement of her new album HERE, out November 4. The dreamy, heartfelt track features a verse from A$AP Rocky.

Keys pens an open letter-type to husband Swizz Beatz’s children he had prior to their marriage and the reality of their blended family dynamic. She opens the track with the lines “I’mma really be your mother / That don’t mean that I don’t really love ya / And even though I married your father / It’s not the only reason I’m here for ya.” Her marriage to the producer was subject to a lot of public scrutiny after his divorce from first wife Mashonda. A$AP Rocky throws down some bars about his personal experience living in a blended family as well.

Keys took to her website to explain the importance of releasing this track:

“It means so much to me and our whole family. The understanding, compassion and support we’ve found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love. Especially for the kids… the most important part of our lives. Celebrating Mashonda for our commitment to each other with support and true growth.”
