With Paris Fashion Week in full swing after only one day, Alaïa and Pieter Mulier wowed everyone at the Alaïa atelier yet again with the Summer Fall 2025 collection. Exploring themes of history, geography, sculpture, and women, the show was punctuated by works from sculptor Mark Manders, and the space embodied an environment where creativity knows no bounds—much like the collection itself.
Manders’ sculptures, suspended between the past and the present, inspired a sense of non-linearity, transcending time and geography. This idea of beauty that defies eras mirrors the philosophy of Alaïa: an identity shaped by culture’s constant exchange and evolution.
The show’s original soundtrack, Liefde, composed by Gustave Rudman, featuring soprano Fatma Saïd, was a musical reflection of these diverse influences. It evoked a universal quality, much like the clothes, which fused multiple histories and cultures into a timeless design language.
The collection’s movement, likened to kinetic sculpture, emphasized pleats, drapes, and hoods that framed the body like a portrait, capturing femininity and strength. The designs were both protective and empowering, with shapes that mirrored the topography of the female form, reinforcing the message of individuality and resilience.
“The strength of beauty, the eternal resilience of women—this is what always inspired Azzedine and continues to inspire me.” – Pieter Mulier
