International Women’s Day is just around the corner and something tells us that this year, this special day will take on a new importance, what with the current state of affairs in the US and the recent Women’s March in Washington.
adidas Constortium is celebrating the global women’s movement with a women’s only Samba “Deep Hue” collection — three colourways designed specifically with women in mind.
The green, purple and off-white colours are a reference to one of the earliest women’s organizations, founded back in 1903. This British movement was instrumental in helping women gain the right to vote, and paved the way for generations of feminists around the world. These colours adorn the Samba’s soft, premium suede upper and the colour-matching flat cotton laces. Finishing details include Three Stripes branding at the side and heel tab, embossed SAMBA lettering on the side, a Consortium branded leather insole and a gum outsole.
adidas didn’t stop at the design to ensure it properly paid tribute to women around the world, and hired female-only agency In Bloom to execute the creative campaign in support of the Samba’s release. London-based photographer Christina Nwabugo (@bynwabugo) and stylist Mercy Su (@mercysu_) are behind the clean, modern images that evoke the straight-forward and self-confident attitude of the modern woman.
In Canada, the Samba pack will be available exclusively at Livestock, so watch for these to drop there on International Women’s Day, March 8.
