Over the past three years, Williamsburg has quickly filled up with amazing hotels, all within a few blocks of each other. Decidedly the most social of the bunch is The Hoxton, a new name in the city from a London-based hotel group with locations in Amsterdam, Paris, and Portland, with more set to open over the next couple of years.
For their first US outpost, The Hoxton Williamsburg is home to 175 bedrooms, a lobby lounge and coffee shop, three bars and restaurants, and five meeting rooms and event spaces. From the moment you enter the lobby, set down a large staircase just off Wythe Avenue, the space has a creative social club vibe that’s perfect to camp out for a quick work session pre-flight or a late-night cocktail. What we love most is that nothing in the hotel is off limits to locals; they welcome them in more ways than one.
Hoxton worked with local makers, creators and artists to bring together the best furnishings, programming and art for the Williamsburg location to create “an authentic reflection of our neighbourhoods [to] support the communities that live and breathe around us.”
There are two room types, ‘Cozy’ and ‘Roomy,’ both of which don’t feel overly roomy, though they do feature luscious king-sized beds with bespoke linens from Brooklyn artist Dusen Dusen as well as floor-to-ceiling windows with Brooklyn and Manhattan views. The rooms also have cute details like a curated bookshelf, a curated guide to the neighbourhood, a Robert’s speaker, a fold-away desk with coffee and tea, and a complimentary breakfast bag delivered daily to your door.
The bathrooms feature white tiling, marble counter tops, waterfall showers, and products from a local Brooklyn apothecary. For anything you forget, you can pop down to the Hox Shop which stocks everything from snacks, to travel sized toiletries, and gifts, so you won’t have to nip out to the bodega late at night; they also offer room service from 7 am to 11 pm and drink service till 1 am.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a gym on site, but they offer discounted rates at gyms and studios close by, and bikes are also available, which are free for guests to use during their stay.
