It took us a little longer than most to make it out to see Osgemeos‘s latest installation in New York, and while the show closes in just under a months time, it didn’t feel right to keep this amazing exhibition from our readers. We’ve long been fans of the Brazillian artist duo’s graffiti which you might have seen peppered around the world in places like New York, Milan, São Paulo, Paris, London, Miami, Berlin and so more over the years.
Silence of the Music is the duo’s first solo show at New York’s Lehmann Maupin in Chelsea. Together brothers Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo transformed the galleries five rooms into a bright, highly immersive installation that blurs the lines between painting, sculpture, drawing, mixed media, kinetic, and audio elements. The installation represent the duos style perfectly but somehow more evolved beyond what you get in their graffiti works. They have returned to their early experimentation days and made them new with oil paintings and sensory inducing moving pieces and sounds.
According to Lehmann Maupin, the exhibition “embraces the power of human imagination and the vast possibilities in visually interpreting the subconscious.”
The exhibition is on now through October 22nd, and we couldn’t recommend a visit more highly. Check out our photos from the exhibition below now.
