HUSTLE TV: A Closer Look at The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II from Sidewalk Hustle on Vimeo.
For most of us, Chuck’s were the uniform of our youth. Yes we all had a pair of other fly kicks that we rocked on special occasions to show off, but Chuck’s were the shoes you wore when you climbed over fences at 2AM to sneak into a public swimming pool, or wore when you went to a concert in a grimy dive bar; they were your everyday kicks.
As time goes on and we all grow up, these every day shit kickers are less desirable in all the same settings they once were. When you do rock them, it’s a subtle nod, a secret handshake, a wink. Every scuff is an acknowledgement of the dues you paid, your badge of honour. You were there. Much like us, the Converse Chuck Taylor has grown up.
Today Converse unveiled their brand new Chuck Taylor All Star II’s in Boston and as the incredible news streaks across the world, we here at Sidewalk Hustle are pleased to give you a closer look at the new sneaker, out in the wild on the streets of our hometown, Toronto. We put the II’s through our everyday paces of life, from a coffee run, to the barbershop, to dinner and finally a live concert.
Understanding the overall importance of the shoe but addressing all the little things, the new Chuck II’s pay attention to the details. First up the tongue has been upgraded from a loose piece of fabric to a padded non-slip tongue for maximum comfort around your instep and ankle. This is great because we all know how annoying it was that the tongue would always slip to one side exposing your socks. The shoe also features a perforated micro-suede lining for maximized comfort, monochrome matte eyelets, tonal pinstripes, and is constructed from a stiffer more durable premium canvas.
However, the final detail and perhaps the most significant change in the Chuck II comes in the soles. The new Chuck Tayor II now features a Nike Lunarlon Sockliner for more cushioning and arch support making them a more comfortable kick for everyday. You won’t mind pounding the concrete running around the city in these new premium kicks.
We are pumped to celebrate the launch of the Converse Chuck Taylor II by presenting a short film above and our very own lookbook below.
