Many years ago, a somewhat unknown producer by the name of Danger Mouse took Jay-Z’s seminal album, The Black Album and mashed it up with the classic sounds of The Beatles White Album and created the notorious Grey Album. This being around the birth of internet audio sharing, people raced to download the incredible mix, which very quickly was taken off the net due to a multitude of copyright infringements. Since then Danger Mouse has grown into a household name with his work on Gnarls Barkley, Broken Bells, more, and the legend of the mix has grown. Today, audio engineer John Stewart has remastered Danger Mouse’s The Grey Album, giving the mix a crisper, cleaner sound. It’s nice to have this album again.
