Alaïa has always been a conversation between women and clothes. For Winter Spring 2027, that dialogue expands to include craft, history, memory and the shared experience of fashion.

Presented as the first collection from the Maison’s studio following Pieter Mulier’s departure, the collection wisely avoids the feeling of a reset. Instead, it returns to the vocabulary that has always made Alaïa distinctive: the body, precision, sensuality and exceptional craft.

The silhouettes celebrate the female form without forcing it. Draped dresses wrap and reveal, twisted jersey follows the body, while leather and knitted pleats bring texture and movement. Softness sits alongside sharper, more architectural elements, creating a wardrobe that feels sensual but remarkably assured.

Craft is at the heart. Drapery, jersey, leather and knit are manipulated with extraordinary precision, making the hand of the artisan visible in every detail. Jewelry and sharply pointed shoes extend that same pursuit of excellence across the collection.

The reference to the lemniscate, or infinity symbol, offered a fitting metaphor for Alaïa itself. References to Azzedine appeared subtly through seams, silhouettes, colours and working methods rather than obvious archival reproductions. His influence remains present without becoming nostalgia.

The show’s scenography reinforced the idea of dialogue. Curved screens echoed the female form, while Julian Klincewicz’s video installations brought recorded and live imagery into the space, placing the Alaïa woman in conversation with the audience.

Ultimately, this is a collection about continuity. Alaïa does not need to reinvent its language to remain relevant. Its strength lies in continuing to refine it, allowing the past, the present and the women who wear it to remain in conversation.
