ISSEY MIYAKE presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Figure of Ma, on Friday, October 2, at the Dojo de Paris. The collection returns to a fundamental relationship in fashion: the connection between the body and fabric.

Developed through the simple act of playing with a large piece of cloth, Figure of Ma explores the moment before fabric becomes clothing. The collection looks at ma, the Japanese concept of the space in between, as a place of freedom, generosity, and possibility.

Satoshi Kondo and the design team developed the collection in collaboration with pianist Koki Nakano, creating a dialogue between musical composition and clothing making. The process allowed auditory and visual experiences to influence one another, bringing a more intimate connection between sound and clothing.

That approach comes through in a collection shaped by movement, lightness, and transformation. The garments capture a sense of playful airiness while also creating the feeling of being gently enveloped. As the wearer moves, the relationship between body, fabric, and space continues to shift.

With Figure of Ma, ISSEY MIYAKE continues to explore clothing as something that exists beyond its physical form, focusing on the space where material, movement, and the human body meet.
