Coach celebrated its 85th anniversary in New York last night with a Spring 2027 collection honouring the house’s history without becoming a retrospective.

Creative Director Stuart Vevers revisited familiar Coach codes including the trench, leather jacket, tuxedo, bias-cut dress and Western boot, stripping them back and turning them inside out. Tailoring came in slim, straight proportions, while loveworn leather, faded jersey, exposed construction and unfinished details gave the collection a distinctly lived-in quality.

“I was thinking about memory and the way familiar things change as we live with them,” said Vevers. “I didn’t want to make a retrospective.”

Repurposing remained central, with secondhand leather, denim, vintage Coach pouches and discarded lining fabrics transformed into new pieces. Accessories pushed the anniversary theme further, with the new Turnlock Tote referencing a 1970 Coach design by Bonnie Cashin, alongside the Inside-Out Brooklyn and reworked Tabby bags.

Then came the party. Metallic foil, confetti, glitter and red nail polish appeared across leather goods and footwear, while crowns, bows, gifts and birthday cards were recreated in leather.

The finale brought string musicians from UpBeat NYC and eight voguing dancers onto the runway as confetti fell around the models and guests. The celebration continued at the newly revealed Coach Club 85.

Rather than simply celebrating 85 years of heritage, Vevers used the anniversary as an opportunity to reconsider it, making Coach’s familiar codes feel worn, personal and relevant again.
