Maison Margiela has always blurred the line between fashion, identity and performance. For Fall Winter 2026, the house takes that idea in a darker direction with ANONYMITY, a psychological thriller trailer starring Rebecca Hall.

The film follows an actress preparing for a role as she encounters her own masked double, creating a surreal confrontation with identity and perception. It is a fitting concept for Margiela, where anonymity has been part of the house’s language since its earliest shows.

The trailer serves as the FW26 campaign, featuring Artisanal masks created in the atelier and paired with looks from the collection. The masks continue a tradition that began with Margiela’s first presentation, where they were used to shift focus from the wearer to the clothing itself.

The trailer’s eerie mood comes from the collection’s Shanghai runway debut, where masked models moved through a catwalk built from stacked shipping containers, wearing pieces inspired by the feeling of a Parisian flea market after hours.

The clothes continue Margiela’s obsession with reconstruction. Edwardian silhouettes are pulled apart and rebuilt from destroyed tapestries, second-skin jersey, fused materials, and unexpected combinations. Tailcoats are merged with jersey, furniture-like fabrics become fluid garments, and accessories including the new Link bag and updated Tabi styles continue the house’s study of transformation.

With ANONYMITY, Maison Margiela once again treats fashion as more than clothing. It becomes a way to explore memory, character and the versions of ourselves we choose to reveal.
