Few things pair quite as naturally as extraordinary cars and extraordinary landscapes. At this year’s Louis Vuitton Dolomites Classic Run, that relationship unfolded across some of Italy’s most spectacular roads, culminating in Milan with Gianandrea Redaelli taking the overall title behind the wheel of a magnificent 1939 Aston Martin C-type Speed Roadster Bertelli.
The four-day journey brought together 22 exceptional vintage automobiles, travelling from Venice through the Dolomites before arriving at Monza and, finally, Milan. This was not a contest of outright speed, but a celebration of precision: in the tradition of the great regularity rallies, success depended on consistency, timing and an intimate understanding between driver and machine.
For Redaelli, the victory carries particular resonance. A celebrated figure in historic motoring, he has already claimed the 2006 Louis Vuitton Boheme Run and the 2012 Serenissima Run, making this latest triumph another distinguished chapter in his relationship with some of the world’s most important collector cars.
The final act unfolded at Monza, where the vintage fleet paraded at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale before the evening’s celebrations moved to the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. There, beneath the castle’s historic vaults, Redaelli was presented with the event’s highest honour.
It was a fitting conclusion to a journey built around Louis Vuitton’s enduring Art of Travel: beautiful cars, remarkable roads and the kind of craftsmanship that only becomes more compelling with age.
