Some fashion symbols need no introduction. For Gucci, the Horsebit is one of them.
First sketched in a Gucci artisan’s notebook in the late 1940s, the equestrian-inspired motif quickly became part of the house’s visual language, appearing across accessories and loafers throughout the 1950s before making its way into bracelets and watches in the 1970s. Now, Gucci is returning to the emblem once again with a striking Horsebit fine jewellery and watch collection.
For the accompanying campaign, photographer Carlijn Jacobs brings the collection into a world of cinematic light and shadow giving the pieces a sense of drama and intimacy, allowing the Horsebit motif to ascend to sculptural object.
The new collection features necklaces, rings, bracelets and watches. Yellow gold takes centre stage in a series of chain necklaces, while pendant styles arrive in both yellow and white gold, illuminated with diamonds. Contrarié rings reinterpret the familiar Horsebit shape in yellow gold, again accented with diamonds.
The bracelets continue that balance between recognizable house codes and contemporary design. A diamond-set yellow gold chain sits alongside sculptural bangles in two sizes, including a version covered in diamonds and a more pared-back yellow gold style. Completing the collection is a Horsebit watch, pairing a steel chain bracelet with a silver dial for a more understated take on the emblem.
Gucci officially introduced the Horsebit fine jewellery collection in 2004, and this latest iteration continues that story through a more sculptural, fashion-forward lens. And after more than 70 years, the Horsebit still knows how to make an entrance.
