If you missed Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid when it became one of the breakout films of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Toronto is your next chance to see what all the buzz was about.
A24 has released the first trailer for Firstman’s directorial debut, screening at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall ahead of its November 6 theatrical release.
Written, directed and starring Firstman, Club Kid follows Peter, a hard-partying New York City club promoter whose nightlife driven existence is thrown completely off course when he discovers he has a 10-year-old son he never knew existed. Reggie Absolom stars as Arlo, with Cara Delevingne, Diego Calva and Kirby Howell-Baptiste rounding out the cast.
The trailer offers a glimpse at the film’s unlikely combination of chaotic nightlife, sharp comedy and a surprisingly tender story about fatherhood. Firstman, best known for his viral comedy, television work and roles in projects including I Love LA and Rotting in the Sun, takes on all three major creative roles here as writer, director and lead actor.
Club Kid made its world premiere in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section in May, where it quickly became one of the festival’s most talked-about titles. The response led to a competitive bidding war, with A24 ultimately acquiring worldwide distribution rights for a reported $17 million.
Now, the film heads to Toronto as part of TIFF’s 2026 lineup, giving festival goers a chance to experience the Cannes breakout before it reaches cinemas this fall.
