IWC Schaffhausen is celebrating 140 years of Mercedes-Benz with a limited-edition Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar ProSet, bringing together the two German brands’ shared history of engineering, performance and design.
Limited to just 140 pieces, the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar ProSet 140 Years Mercedes-Benz features a 42mm stainless steel case with a brushed and polished finish, paired with a matte black dial, solid-gold appliques and gold-plated hands. Four subdials display the date, day, month and four-digit year, while IWC’s signature Double Moon moon-phase display sits at 12 o’clock.
Powered by IWC’s manufacture Calibre 82665 the watch introduces the brand’s newly developed Perpetual Calendar ProSet mechanism. Protected by multiple patents, the gear-based system allows the perpetual calendar to be adjusted both forward and backward using a single position of the crown, eliminating the need for additional correctors or complicated setting sequences.
The moon-phase display has also been re-engineered for exceptional precision, deviating by just one day every 1,040 years. Like a traditional perpetual calendar, the mechanism automatically accounts for the varying lengths of the months and leap years, while maintaining the clean, highly legible layout associated with the Big Pilot.
The Mercedes-Benz connection continues on the reverse, where the caseback features a historic logo dating to 1926, marking the year Mercedes-Benz was established as a brand. The anniversary edition also reflects a partnership between IWC and Mercedes-AMG that dates back to 2004 and later expanded to the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team in 2013.
The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar ProSet 140 Years Mercedes-Benz is limited to 140 pieces and is available to inquire about through IWC boutiques and the brand’s official website.
