Just in time for end of summer parties, Hermès adds a new scent to the Hermessence collection. Created by Hermès Perfume Creative Director Christine Nagel, Ginseng Biloba is an unexpected olfactory pairing inspired by the hidden world of precious roots and botanical forms.

Nagel was drawn to the deep, woody character of ginseng and its gentle bitterness, working with a French partner to develop a handcrafted natural ginseng extract. Contrasted by the distinctive scent of crumpled ginkgo leaves, the result is distinctly earthy, woody, and radiant.

Continuing Hermès’ long-standing fascination with raw materials found beneath the surface, Ginseng Biloba joins Vétiver Tonka, Iris Ukiyoé and Musc Pallida in a group of Hermessence fragrances introduced in 2004 centred around roots and rhizomes, each interpreting their materials through an unexpected pairing.

Ginseng Biloba is available now and comes packaged inside Hermès’ signature lantern bottle, reimagined in bright yellow to echo the golden ginkgo leaf, finished with beige saddle stitching. Ginseng Biloba finds poetry in contrast, turning two distinctly botanical materials into a fragrance that feels both ancient and contemporary.

Ginseng Bilboba is available now online and in stores.
