As summer settles into its hottest stretch, winter escapes feel like a distant thought. But with the colder months closer than they seem, now is precisely the moment to start planning a getaway. Florida may not immediately spring to mind, nor has it long been considered the height of chic, but the arrival of Perroquet just might just give you a reason to reconsider.
Developed by Clifford and Matthew of The Lane Organization, the 37 room design focused boutique property transforms a former 1950s motel into an intimate retreat with a distinctly residential feel. With Belgian architect Bernard Dubois leading the redesign, the space blends the character of mid century America with a European sensibility through warm materials, custom furnishings, lush tropical gardens, and a calming palette inspired by coastal living.
The hotel also features a curated art collection with works by Salvatore Emblema, Giorgio Griffa, Jean Tinguely, Jean Cocteau, Lucio Fontana, Roberto Matta, Alekos Fassianos, and Jeff Koons.
The guestrooms span nine categories, each featuring Serra linens, Byredo bath amenities, and understated luxury that aims to prioritize comfort over excess. Guests can also enjoy a complimentary breakfast bar each morning before heading to nearby Fort Lauderdale Beach with the hotel’s beach chairs in tow or head to the pool for dip and an afternoon game of chess.
Tucked just moments from Las Olas Boulevard, the NSU Art Museum, Bonnet House Museum & Gardens and the Port Everglades, Perroquet brings a more considered perspective to boutique hospitality, one that definitely made us think twice about a visit to Fort Lauderdale.
