In Paris this season, SLOAN opted for something more personal than a traditional runway. Founder and designer Julia Sloan presented her latest collection inside a modern private home in the 9th arrondissement, where guests were asked to remove their shoes at the door and slip into provided slippers. The evening unfolded slowly, accompanied by a live piano performance from Kenzo Zurolo as we toured the collection with Julis herself, before concluding with a tea ceremony that brought the intimate gathering to a quiet close.
The setting echoed the spirit of the collection itself, which explores balance between strength and softness, masculine and feminine energy. Tailored silhouettes were paired with tactile craft, including crochet pieces woven by women working from their homes in the deserts of central Mexico and sustainably sourced leathers and suedes crafted in Mexico City. Fine wools from family-owned mills rounded out the material palette, reinforcing the brand’s focus on considered production and artisanal collaboration.
Core SLOAN silhouettes appeared reworked through layering, proportion, and hand-finished details. Silk organza introduced a sense of transparency and lightness, while exaggerated shapes and architectural tailoring played with volume around the body. The pieces felt designed for movement and adaptability, reflecting Sloan’s ongoing interest in garments that can shift with the rhythms of everyday life.
The color palette drew directly from the natural world, with tones of sand, sage, olive, deep black, ivory, copper, and brick creating a grounded, earthy wardrobe. Hand-carved belts produced near San Miguel de Allende and accents of semi-precious stones added subtle points of texture and symbolism.
Shot for the lookbook in the landscapes of Tepoztlán, Mexico, the collection reflects Sloan’s ongoing dialogue with nature and craft. The result is a wardrobe rooted in practicality yet imbued with a quiet emotional charge, where thoughtful construction and artisanal detail sit at the centre of the brand’s evolving identity.
