Balmain’s Fall-Winter 2026 show in Paris marked the start of a new chapter for the house with the debut of creative director Antonin Tron. Rather than treating the archive as nostalgia, Tron looked back to the moment Pierre Balmain founded the maison in 1945, using that history as a framework for what the brand could look like now. The focus returned to Balmain’s original language of architecture and sensuality, with silhouettes designed to emphasize the body while maintaining a sense of strength and movement.
Tron pulled from several early house references, including the provocative sensuality of Balmain’s Spring 1946 collection and the draping techniques introduced in Spring 1953. The house’s iconic pilot jacket also resurfaced as a key motif, its aerodynamic structure informing much of the collection’s tailoring. Strong shoulders anchored many looks, balanced by softer draping that made the pieces feel lighter and easier to move in. One standout moment came through a sharply cut pilot jacket paired with fluid draped elements, a look that captured the collection’s tension between structure and ease.
Animal prints, long associated with Pierre Balmain, returned in new forms, with intricate hand embroidery on organza and supple leather. Tiger, leopard, and crocodile patterns appeared throughout, often paired with feathers that added texture without overwhelming the garments. Fabrics such as satin, velvet, shearling, jacquard cloque, leather, and lace reinforced the tactile quality of the lineup. The palette stayed largely nocturnal with deep black tones joined by shades of purple and green.
Accessories leaned into that same sense of tactility and practicality. Tron introduced the Sphynx bag, featuring a soft hourglass silhouette, alongside the hand-held Dinner at 8 clutch, inspired by his surfing kit. The show itself unfolded within a cinematic set designed by architect Andrea Faraguna, shifting from a dark landscape into a brighter atmosphere as the presentation progressed. It was a subtle visual cue that Balmain, under Tron, is stepping into a new era while keeping its original foundations firmly in view.
