ISSEY MIYAKE EYES has a new frame worth paying attention to. Introducing UROKO, the latest model born out of the IM MEN Spring Summer 2026 collection titled “DANCING TEXTURE,” and it’s one of those pieces where the concept and the execution actually meet each other halfway.

The name and the idea both trace back to the ceramic work of Shoji Kamoda, a Japanese artist known for pottery featuring distinctive scale-like surface patterns. That visual language translates directly into the frame’s construction. Eight lenses total, four arranged in sequence on each side, are positioned to echo the repetitive, organic patterning found in Kamoda’s work. It’s a precise reference, not a loose one.

Making that layout work within a compact frame required some real engineering. Each of the eight lenses features a specially designed concave cut, allowing them to sit together cleanly without the whole thing becoming unwieldy. The precision of that finishing is apparent up close. This is also where the 3D printing comes in, working alongside traditional Japanese craftsmanship to achieve the kind of complex surface detail that wouldn’t be possible through conventional manufacturing alone.

The frame’s surface treatment is its own thing entirely. Rather than landing on a single uniform finish, each piece carries subtle variations that shift the perception of depth depending on how light hits it. Two lens colours are available, Dark Gray and Brown, both suited to letting the texture do the talking.

UROKO hits the ISSEY MIYAKE EYES online store on March 4th, priced at $680 USD.
