Sometimes a creative chapter ends with intention. Following their departure from Jil Sander earlier this year, former creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier have delivered a final statement for the house in the form of a collaboration with Moncler. Unveiled today, the Moncler x Jil Sander capsule marks a considered closing moment that brings together two brands known for precision, restraint, and design clarity.
First teased over a year ago at the Moncler Genius event in Shanghai, the full collection now comes into view as a quiet departure from Moncler’s typically extravagant approach to outerwear. While the collaboration remains grounded in Moncler’s technical heritage, it is unmistakably filtered through Jil Sander’s minimalist lens. Signature cloud like volumes are softened and refined with the brand’s familiar beehive silhouettes replaced by clean lines and controlled proportions.
The natural world serves as the central point of reference. Snow capped peaks, rolling hills, and smooth stones inform the rounded shapes seen throughout padded cardigans, sculptural jackets, and dome shaped skirts. A muted palette inspired by winter landscapes reinforces the calm, understated mood, while the Moncler logo appears as a polished silver pin rather or a tonal shape, rather than a bold emblem.
Materiality plays a key role in balancing luxury with performance. Natural fibres such as double wool with a fluid drape, feather light washed cotton twill, and long haired wool that moves softly in motion are paired with Moncler’s signature down filled nylon. The result is a collection that feels both protective and refined, designed to move seamlessly between alpine settings and everyday urban life.
