As mentioned last month, Gucci was planning on showing up in full force at this year’s Milan Design Week. Actualizing a vision from creative director Sabato De Sarno, the special project co-curated by Michela Pelizzari, Gucci Design Ancora, is now on display for the world to see. Design Ancora showcases a special edition of five objects, all from a bygone era, the golden age of Italian design, yet remain symbols of Italianity and, even more specifically, of Milananness. Esch item demonstrates its continued contemporaneity through and perhaps despite their iconic status.

There is a sofa, a lamp, a carpet, a vase, and a dresser, all of which are re-edited in that sexy Rosso Ancora, a red selected by De Sarno as the colour to mark the beginning of Gucci’s new era. The pieces are being shown at the Gucci Milan flagship against a perfect juxtaposing green on a curved wall, another colour chosen by Sabto De Sarno. The backdrop is intended to create a sense of fluidity in the visually and metaphysically boundaries.
