Since taking the reins of Gucci as Creative Director, designer Sabato De Sarno is getting his moment to shine, beyond the clothing, of course, with his own documentary. Titled Who Is Sabato De Sarno? A Gucci Story, the documentary, was directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost and offers the viewer an unprecedented look into the creation of the Gucci Ancora fashion show, the debut collection by De Sarno. The 20-minute documentary premieres exclusively on film-focused streaming service MUBI globally today, March 15, 2024, and is narrated by actor and brand ambassador Paul Mescal. The film also features interviews with close collaborators, including producer Mark Ronson and stylist Alastair McKimm.
Who is Sabato de Sarno? – A Gucci Story unveils never-before-seen footage, from the inception of the creative process to the meticulous execution of the final runway product. The film presents a unique perspective on the untold stories that have shaped Gucci Ancora.
Following the premiere on MUBI, which coincides with the collection’s arrival in stores, Gucci will host screenings in major cities around the globe, allowing audiences to experience Gucci Ancora on the big screen. Marking a first within the fashion and luxury industry, an Apple Vision Pro enriched version is available, allowing the viewers to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and artistry of the Gucci Ancora collection. Finally, Air France will make Who is Sabato de Sarno? – A Gucci Story available on all flights throughout April.
