Chinese New Year celebrations are well underway and three of Vancouver’s cultural pillars are coming together to celebrate the Year of the Pig in true Vancouver style.
Staple fashion brand Vancity Original and concert venue Fortune Sound Club have recruited designer and restauranteur Alex Rhek (of Cold World Frozen Goods) for a limited edition capsule collection commemorating the Year of the Pig and Vancity and Fortune’s history in Vancouver’s Chinatown. The capsule is made up of tees, hats, a crewneck and a hoodie that all feature an original pig character designed by Rhek.
Additionally, the capsule features a collaborative sneaker with Chinese footwear brand Warrior Shoes. The canvas sneaker is adorned with the brand’s classic red and white colouring but features special tongue branding featuring original artwork from Vancity and Rhek.
As if all that wasn’t enough, Fortune Sound Club is hosting a special pop-up tomorrow for the collection’s release featuring all-you-can-eat BBQ and roast pork on rice (until it’s all gone), a lion dance showdown between Ma Athletics and Chau Luen Athletic Club and DJ sets from Rhek and DJ Seko.
