Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli is working on a new collection of high-end athletic wear for his eponymous label.
Valli’s designs are unabashedly feminine, and have been seen on many A-list stars over the years, so it’s interesting to see him moving into the athleisure space. However, he has also just ended a partnership with Italian sportswear brand Moncler, where he was creative director of their now-defunct Gamme Rouge label. Additionally, his collections have become more and more casual over the past few seasons, even sending Nike leggings down the runway alongside his own bold designs. Athleisure is definitely becoming synonymous with fashion these days, so it makes total sense that Valli and his brand would want to stay relevant.
Speaking to WWD about the new collection Valli said:
“It’s a capsule collection where we will express a more functional side of the brand, while remaining faithful to the atmosphere of the contemporary chic that is part of its DNA.”
The upcoming athleisure collection will include about 50 pieces and is set to debut this coming January. We can’t wait to see what Valli dreams up, so stay tuned!
