Indie publication Nylon Magazine has announced that they will be shutting down their print magazine.
Founded in 1999, Nylon Magazine has featured cutting edge fashion, film, music and underground culture with a focus on subverting mainstream media interests, since its inception. In recent years however the glossy has had its ups and downs. In 2014 the brand’s founders, Marvin and Jaclynn Jarrett lost financial control of the company and in 2015 sister publication Nylon Guys also transitioned to a digital-only presence. It’s no secret that the print industry is struggling so this news comes as no surprise. Nylon will now focus their efforts on digital and social media content. Their October 2017 issue will be their final print edition, although the brand does plan on producing annual Collector’s Issues in the future.
We’re sad to see another print publication fold, but excited to see how the brand develops with a strictly digital presence. Stay tuned!
