After the super successful collaboration in 2015 between adidas Skateboarding and Harlem born hip-hop creative A$AP Ferg, the two have teamed up for their second collection. Inspired by the mismatched style and creativity from the youth in inner-cities, Ferg draws similar parallels from his own experience growing up in New York City, creating unity and celebrating the determination to overcome adversity. From the contrasting clothing style worn by nomadic youth to mashup of genres, the adidas Skateboarding x Trap Lord collection bridges the gap between skate culture and hip-hop.
“I love working with adidas Skateboarding because I get to connect with a lot of cool kids and get involved in the culture. I’m excited about the new Trap Lord collection because we added a lot of elements into it.”
Along with the collection reveal, adidas Skateboarding and A$AP Ferg have dropped the official music video for “Nandos” from the rapper’s new critically acclaimed mixtape, Still Striving. The video is set in an abandoned school where Ferg talking to a group of wayward youth with cuts to performance and skateboarding.
