After another short bout with the rain, we returned to Commissioners Street for the third and final day of NXNE Port Lands 2017 after two full days packed with performances from Post Malone, Kaytranada and more.
The day kicked off with sets from the likes of The Franklin Electric, HUMANS, River Tiber and Yukon Blonde – although the clear highlight was an in-your-face performance from Minneapolis rapper Lizzo. As fans took their last turns on the carnival rides and grabbed their final beverages, New Orleans jazz ensemble The Soul Rebels completely gripped the crowd’s attention with their upbeat style of jazz-hip hop fusion. After almost a full set, fans were treated to a number of tracks from legendary rapper Talib Kweli. The evening concluded with a headlining performance from Passion Pit, the indietronica project of Michael Angelakos. The overly positive vibes and crowd participation were a fitting end to the weekend’s festivities.
