John Legend hooked up with the Roots for “Our Generation,” which is both part of the Levi’s Pioneer Session, and Wake Up!, the forthcoming collaboration album together. Legend & The Roots re-craft the 1970’s lost classic, by the great, soul singer Ernie Hines. This Legend / The Roots’s modern interpretation of “Our Generation” retains the all of the authenticity of the original track and gets funky from the outset, with big fat brass and an ice cold keyboard vamp, inspirational backing singers and a particularly gritty vocal.
