Earlier this year, experimental indie-rock outfit Parquet Courts released their fantastic fifth album Human Performance, and now we’ve got an equally dope video for the title track. Conceived, directed, and puppeteered by renowned English visual artist Phil Collins, the video features the band as puppets. As Collins explains in a press release…
“I was thinking about the track and how it paints a breakup both elliptically and with such devastating directness, and I wondered what it would be like if this drama was enacted not through naturalism or authenticity but through its partners in crime, doubling and artificiality. So puppets seemed an obvious choice.”

Human Performance is out now on Rough Trade, grab a digital copy via iTunes here. Parquet Courts have also announced the August 19th release of the Performing Human 12″, which will feature an alternate take of “Human Performance” + remixes of the song, pre-order it here. You can also catch Parquet Courts performing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert July 14th, as well as live at the dates listed below.
