It’s been some time since my last style post, NYFW to be exact, but we went all out for Coachella this year and just couldn’t resist capturing what glamping in the desert looked like. It was my fifth year attending the festival, and my first year staying in the Safari Tents. As a seasoned festival goer, I’ve learned a ton of tips and tricks over the years to help keep you looking and feeling good on the easily overwhelming festival grounds.
But how do you look like a million bucks when it’s so hot you’d rather just be wearing your bathing suit?
As I’ve mentioned many times before, flatforms are your friend. Especially if you found the perfect maxi dress to wear but need a little bit of extra height to pull it off. Flatforms will not only have you soaring over everyone in the crowd #views, but also help to elongate the body and your overall look. I found this pair at Zara of all places and they proved to be super comfortable all Coachella weekend.
Hot Tip! I also recommend using Sole Serum which numbs foot pain for about three hours, giving you that extra motivation to keep dancing into the wee hours.
Of course it helps if you’re staying in the Safari tents at Coachella, so you can take advantage of the golf cart service which picks you up each day at your tent and allows you an easy ride backstage away from crowds from stage to stage.
Another key to a stand out Coachella look is a pair of awesome statement shades. You’ll see people dressed as everything from dinosaurs to glittered cats, so why not rock the most editorial sunnies you have!? This year I opted for a different pair each day from Prada, Fendi, and Persol.
Clothing wise it’s important to pick looks that you feel comfortable in and keep you cool. So I went for three distinct looks which all provided ample airflow in the desert heat. On the first day I wore this rather outrageous Alice McCall jumpsuit which was not only super comfy, but also beautifully tailored. For the second day I decided to rock my Canadian tuxedo with a layered denim look, and finally on the third day I went full-blown hippie in a Mara Hoffman floral button down dress.
Lastly a moment on accessories if I may. Bags and jewellery can really complete a look but definitely consider comfort when making your selections because they can really aggravate you over the course of a day. I recommend a cross body or backpack, which houses all your stuff, and leaves your hands free to flail around when dancing in the crowd. On the jewellery side, keep it simple especially if you’re opting for jazzy shades, or go for one statement piece for a pop of metallic or colour.
