Lizzo has been rising for a minute but her star is only shining stronger every day. It won’t be long before she’s a household name, so we thought we’d catch you up to speed incase you don’t know what’s up.
Born in Detroit but now calls Minneapolis home, Lizzo defies every genre. She’s a riot grrrl rapper, a singer who’s passion and emotion shines through with each breath and a bad ass who isn’t afraid to get political. In 2013 we fell in love with Lizzo and her infectiously tasty track “Batches & Cookies” off her debut album Lizzobangers.
In 2014 shit got real with “Faded” and Lizzo reminded us that “rumors that world gon’ end don’t faze me.”
She then casually stopped by Letterman and brought her heart pounding track “Bus Passes And Happy Meals” alive on the legendary stage. Watch Letterman say Lizzobangers below.
Earlier this year, Lizzo opened for Sleater-Kinny on their much anticipated No Cities to Love reunion tour and stole everyone’s hearts along the way.
As she’s never one to stick to any one sound, we’re excited to hear her upcoming album Big GRRRL Small World. Big GRRRL Small World features Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and was produced by BJ Burton at Vernon’s April Base studio in Eau Claires.
