Ladies and gentlemen, the Toronto International Film Festival has officially begun and we’re ready to celebrate just like the movie stars! In this weeks cocktail hour we’ve partnered with our friends at BYOB Cocktail Emporium to add a little bit of extra bling to the series for the next few days.
After travelling to Japan to source the very best bar tools available they’ve equipped us with some incredible items like a gold shaker, bar spoon, cocktail picks, jiggers, and more to help us get in the mood for some TIFF glamour while mixing up a drink to get the night started. If you’re used to using traditional tools like we are at home, you’d be amazed how fabulous you’ll feel using the very finest Japanese tools.
Keeping in the Japanese theme we thought we’d put a little twist on the classic French 75. To achieve this we’ve opted for sake in place of gin and aromatic yuzu juice for that added level of complexity. In case you’re having trouble finding fresh yuzu’s (more importantly ripe ones) at your local market, we suggest heading over to BYOB where they sell it by the bottle.
Enjoy this take on a classic below and head here to treat yourself to some of BYOB’s fine selection of Japanese tools now.
INGREDIENTS
1 oz Sake
3/4 oz Yuzu Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Sparking Wine
METHOD
Combine gin, yuzu juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled gold rimmed coupe and top with sparking wine. Garnish with yuzu rind and enjoy.
For an extra level of bling, wrap the yuzu rind onto a gold cocktail stick.
